The castle has a pentagonal planimetric shape, slightly irregular, whose protection was ensured by four circular towers in the corners and a square tower protecting the only entrance gate to the castle. Another rectangular tower, small and outside the castle wall, reinforced its western wall. The trail of the castle is 80 m long and 50 m wide. This castle was built as a fortress by the Ottoman Empire to control the area of Kruja as a strong area of uprisings and gradually transformed into an urban residential area and today, thanks to its architecture, geographical location, the rare view from its courtyard as and local gastronomy has turned into an important tourist destination for the capital.
