On 20 July 2026, the festive and educational event for children and families took place at the historic Sarajet e Toptanëve in Tirana, as part of the “Gates and Bridges” project, implemented by MeWe Association in cooperation with the National Centre of Traditional Activities, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport..

The event marked the completion of the “Gates and Bridges” project and the promotion of a new illustrated guide for children and families, developed as part of the Family Art Guides educational platform.

Conceived as a space where art, play and education come together, the event focused on new and contemporary ways of introducing children to Albanian cultural heritage. Through games, creative activities and workshops led by young artists and animators, children and families explored the themes of doors and bridges as important symbols of Albanian history and culture.

Doors and bridges were approached not only as elements of tangible heritage, but also as concepts connected to hospitality, Besa, human relationships, memory and the connections between generations.

In this context, the guide “Doors and Bridges” was presented as an educational tool that brings cultural heritage closer to children through artistic illustration and accessible, engaging language.

The choice of Sarajet e Toptanëve as the venue gave the event a particularly meaningful symbolic dimension. A historic house, deeply connected to the history of Tirana, was transformed for one day into a meeting place between the past and the future.

This is precisely the idea at the heart of the “Doors and Bridges” project: to connect what may appear separate and to create new bridges between children, families, history and heritage.

The morning programme demonstrated that cultural education can be a living, creative and enjoyable experience. Through art and play, children encountered history not as something distant, but as a living part of the place where they live.
